Good Samaritan Ministries hopes you have had a wonderful summer! As the summer dwindles down, we wait in anticipation for the beautiful leaves to begin to change as the season of fall arrives. Fall also brings one of America’s favorite holidays in Thanksgiving! While many families have the means to provide food for this joyous occasion, many others do not have the same assurance.
From the single mother who is working multiple jobs but does not qualify for government assistance, to the disabled senior veteran who lives on his own, Good Samaritan Ministries desires to be the advocate for those who need a hand up. Many families and individuals in our community will need help to ensure they have a Thanksgiving meal, and extra food for the following weeks leading into the winter months.
This year, we plan to give 550 Thanksgiving food boxes and 200 fully prepared meals for families, veterans, the disabled, and the elderly in northeast Tennessee. Our waiting list is active, so as resources provide, we would love to bless even more people than the number provided! We would like for you to prayerfully partner with us in one of two ways. First, we would love for your church, group, or place of work to conduct a Thanksgiving food drive. Attached, is the Thanksgiving food list so that you can choose an item(s) to collect. Secondly, you can donate towards this cause, please send all checks and/or money orders to Good Samaritan Ministries – P.O. Box 2441, Johnson City, TN 37605 or visit our website and donate online at www.GoodSamJC.org.
If you plan to conduct a food drive, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org, or 423-928-0288, and let us know that you will be partnering with us and what food item(s) you will be collecting. Please have all food drives to be concluded by October 17, 2016. This means that you can bring your food to Good Sam offices anytime between now and the given time frame. Once the food drive ends, you can drop off the food at Good Samaritan or our staff or volunteers can come to pick up the food at your location. Also, we welcome your group to help pack and distribute the boxes. We will begin to pack the boxes, Monday, October 31, 2016, through Friday, November 4, 2016.
We are so excited for what God is going to do through us as we partner together to provide food for our brothers and sisters in need. Thank you for answering the call to be a Good Samaritan four our neighbors. May God bless and keep you.
